After the long overdue pandemic, bartending institutes have started gaining more audience that are eager to learn bartending skills and hone themselves.
Bed Prasad, the owner of Elite Bartending Academy says, “After the lockdown loosened up, we have more influx of people coming to our institute who want to learn how to bartend.”
“The extravagant showmanship appeal of the skill is what usually attracts the people to our academy.”, says Prasad. The demand for bartenders is high in the hospitality sector with regular openings in several bars, pubs, clubs, and restaurants not just in Nepal but all over the world. “People who have trouble pursuing further education and want to start earning money immediately, bartending presents itself as a wonderful opportunity for them as a good source of income.”, Prasad shares with us regarding their clients.

Prasad states that on an average, a regular bartender can earn around $16-24 per hour according to their experience and expertise. Bartenders are sought after highly everywhere and with bartending being a globally recognized skill, it is also easier for Nepali youths complete a course of few months before they go to abroad and start earning immediately.
An instructor at Cocktail & Flair Academy says, “Although bartending is gradually gaining popularity here in Nepal, I believe that it is yet to reach its heights and bartending will soon be a household name and more people will look forward to learning an extravagant skill.”
There are currently two different types of course that the academy provides for people who want to learn bartending, a short one month long bartending class and a three month long one. The one-month long class is usually preferred by people who are soon headed abroad so they can learn it quickly before they leave. A three-hour class every day, where they teach them how to mix drinks and hone their flaring skills is highly sought after by the clients.

“We mostly get youngsters in their late teens or early twenties and people under thirty. There are exceptional cases where few experienced people come for extensive personal classes so they can hone their skills.”, says the instructor.
